We have dedicated ourselves to high-quality white and red wines with a strong relationship to their terroir, and it is a pleasure to introduce you to the treasures in our cellars. This is an exciting moment: after all, we have all worked hard for it, had decisions to take and the specific challenges of this vintage to face.
The care of the vine is particularly important to us. It is the only guarantor for quality, depth and minerality and complexity of a wine - not to mention the famous "Pfefferl", the peppery note for which Grüner Veltliner wines from our area are famous.

We rigorously cut back the vines already in winter to achieve the greatest qualities. Keeping the yield low means that the plant can put its resources into fewer grapes. We train the vines using one arching branch at middle height, not too far from the soil, allowing the grapes to absorb the warmth reflected from there. Spring, when the shoots begin to grow, it one of the busiest times in the vineyards. By cutting out surplus shoots and leaves we ensure good ventilation. During the summer, we are literally on our knees, controlling every individual vine and cutting off excess bunches of grapes. Then comes the beginning of autumn, always a tense, exciting time for us. The only thing that matters now is the weather: will it stay sunny or is the rain coming? Every sunny day brings with it complexity and aromatic depth, every rainy day can threaten or destroy our harvest. Finally, we mobilize all our forces. We harvest our vineyards in several waves and as late as possible, a nerve-racking time, but to be quite honest, this is the way we like it. This way we are never bored!

Our two Romans, father and son, are working together very well. While Roman senior, "Mister Veltliner", is looking after the substantial white wines his son makes good use of his expertise accumulated during his internships at various estates by vinifying the red wines with the ease of a virtuoso. The results are remarkable: our 2004 Zweigelt came among the best ten Austrian reds among 300 competitors in a recent tasting by the Falstaff magazine and was distinguished as best red wine from the Weinviertel. Our Altenberg St Laurent, Excellent and Heidorn did also very well, and Roman junior gave particular attention to the Pinot Noir.

Now, good tasting and enjoy our wines!
